Happy Sunday, WG2E-Land!
If there’s one “product” that I can say forever changed my Indie Epublishing career, it was my first Boxed Set (Ebook Boxed Set Bliss).
That one product alone has now made me over $35,000 since its release in December 2011! Using my current sales stats, it should come in around $50,000+ for 2012!
My Boxed Set has been what I call…a Golden Cow.
The way I figure it is that if I can continue to produce at least one product a year that makes me, on its own, around $35,000 to $50,000, I can really begin to make some serious cash as an Indie Epublished Author.
I created my first Boxed Set as a Seth Godin-style Purple Cow way to help readers discover me and my books. At the time (November/December 2011), no one else was doing anything like this – 5 novels and one short-story for just $2.99 – and that’s what would make me stand out like a Purple Cow in a barnyard full of Brown Heifers.
But that Purple Cow has now turned into a Golden Cow because I’ve maintained that ridiculously low price point and kept it available across all platforms at that price all the time.
So, how do I repeat that Purple Cow to Golden Cow legacy?
To be honest, I don’t know that I can. It may have just been the right product at the right time…that little bit of luck we all talk about. BUT, that said, my stars wouldn’t have lined up and captured that little bit of luck, if I hadn’t worked my ass off first and figured out how I could treat readers in a new and exciting way.
Readers luuuvvv more books/bang for their bucks, and they luuuvvv being able to one-click-buy an entire series or at least half of the series or more in just one download. That way, they don’t have to mess around with figuring out which book is first, second, third and so on. They also really get a kick out of those superfab cool 3D-like Boxed Set Cover Designs. 
On that note, this Holiday Season, I’ve got more new and exciting treats for readers:
1. I’ll do at least two more Boxed Sets – one picking up where the first one left off so that readers can continue their D. D. Scott journey at a terrific price. PLUS, they can treat the readers in their family to my entire collection for two downloads costing around $6.00.
2. What if they only want one download though, and how ’bout I save ‘em another buck too? I’ll also release what I’m calling a D. D. Scott Collection, which will be 10 to 12 books in one set for $4.99. (***File size shouldn’t be an issue because my Ebooks are shorter-lengths…another advantage to writing shorter novels.)
3. I’m also partnering with fabulous Bestselling Author and fellow WG2E Team Member Theresa Ragan for a brand new Holiday Series that I can’t wait to share with readers around the world.
4. There may also be a Stuck with a Series Boxed Set #1 too with a superfab fun Serial Novel twist to it…still working on that idea…
What these Boxed Sets also do is give me a variety of price points on my cyber shelves, the opportunity to make the 70% royalty, and continue to treat my readers to great books for great prices.
